Temporomandibular joint

The temporomandibular joint consists of two joints that connect the lower jaw to the skull. It is located right in front of the ear. This joint allows you to open and close your mouth, move the jaw to the sides, eat, speak, swallow and more. All of the disorders that affect the joint are commonly known as temporomandibular disorders (TMD).
