Bahkan, bahan ini merupakan satu-satunya bahan yang digunakan untuk pelapisan gigi hingga 15 tahun yang lalu.<\/p><p>Keramik feldspar umumnya digunakan untuk gigi anterior, jarang untuk gigi premolar, dan hampir tidak pernah untuk gigi molar karena karakteristik kekuatan bahan yang lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan bahan keramik kaca terkini. Keramik feldspar memiliki ketahanan fraktur yang lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan zirkonia dan litium disilicate. Bahan ini diindikasikan untuk area dengan tekanan rendah dan untuk gigi yang memiliki banyak sisa email. Mempertahankan jaringan gigi jauh lebih mudah dengan keramik feldspar karena hanya memerlukan sedikit atau tidak ada persiapan gigi. Di sisi lain, restorasi yang terbuat dari keramik feldspar lebih sulit dipasang karena cenderung menyusut selama masa pembuatan. Restorasi porselen feldspar harus diikat dengan bahan pengikat resin dan tidak dapat disemen.<\/p><p>Untuk waktu yang sangat lama, dokter gigi telah menggunakan bahan ini hanya karena karakteristik estetikanya yang baik. Veneer yang terbuat dari bahan ini dapat setipis 0,4 mm karena sifat tembus cahaya yang baik yang diberikan oleh keramik feldspar. Hal ini tentu saja menjelaskan mengapa sebagian besar dokter gigi masih menggunakan dan lebih menyukai bahan ini. Keuntungan besar lainnya dari bahan ini adalah dokter gigi dapat membuang lebih sedikit struktur gigi.
