Dengan munculnya bahan crown sementara baru, penting untuk mempertimbangkan kecocokan dan kekuatan marginal guna memilih bahan yang ideal.<\/p><p>Bahan konvensional yang paling sering digunakan untuk restorasi sementara dalam prosedur langsung dan tidak langsung meliputi Polietil, Polimetil metakrilat (PMMA), dan resin berbasis komposit (CBR). Bis-akrilik, yang berbasis pada ester asam metakrilat multifungsi, kini banyak dipilih untuk restorasi sementara karena kemudahan manipulasi intraoral dan sifat mekanis yang baik. Bahan-bahan ini memiliki sifat kimia yang berbeda.<\/p><p>Resin metakrilat terdiri dari bagian cair dan bubuk yang perlu dicampur secara manual sebelum digunakan, sementara resin berbasis komposit biasanya dicampur secara otomatis. Dalam metode ini, bahan yang digunakan adalah Polimetil metakrilat (PMMA). Menggunakan blok PMMA yang dipadukan dengan proses digital ini mengurangi beberapa kendala yang ada dalam pembuatan restorasi sementara langsung. Kesalahan pencetakan dan pencampuran, penyusutan polimerisasi, serta kesulitan pembersihan dapat diminimalkan. Restorasi sementara yang dihasilkan melalui metode CAD\/CAM ini bersifat semi-transparan, tampak alami, sangat estetis, dan sangat tahan lama. Ini merupakan restorasi sementara terkuat yang tersedia. Adaptasi marginal adalah fitur penting dari restorasi sementara, yang bergantung pada komposisi kimia, metode pemasangan, dan prosedur penuaan. Mengenai celah maksimum yang dapat diterima, terdapat berbagai pandangan yang berkembang. Beberapa penelitian terbatas membandingkan akurasi marginal bahan dan metode yang digunakan untuk crown sementara dan gigi tiruan sebagian cekat. Berdasarkan spesifikasi American Dental Association, celah marginal yang lebih besar dari 25-35 \u03bcm dianggap tidak dapat diterima. Crown sementara yang dibuat menggunakan teknologi CAD\/CAM memiliki adaptasi marginal yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan bahan resin polimerisasi otomatis berbasis komposit bis-akrilik. Nilai rata-rata celah vertikal pada crown sementara CAD\/CAM ditemukan hanya 15,026 \u00b1 4,340 \u03bcm, yang kemungkinan disebabkan oleh proses polimerisasi industri yang dilakukan dalam kondisi yang dioptimalkan. Proses ini mengurangi kemungkinan terjadinya penyusutan polimerisasi lebih lanjut setelah pembentukan.<\/p><p>Di sisi lain, beberapa penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai celah rata-rata vertikal untuk resin berbasis komposit (CBR) adalah 145,418 \u00b1 25,365 \u03bcm. Angka yang lebih tinggi ini kemungkinan besar disebabkan oleh penyusutan polimerisasi material tersebut. Penyusutan polimerisasi ini dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, seperti jumlah monomer, fraksi volume partikel pengisi, ukuran pengisi, tingkat konversi, sifat resin, kekakuan dan aliran resin, laju polimerisasi, karakteristik pengawetan, penyerapan air, serta intensitas cahaya yang digunakan untuk polimerisasi resin. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar pembentukan celah terjadi selama fase autopolimerisasi material polimerisasi ganda.<\/p><p>Material seperti polietil, polimetil metakrilat (PMMA), dan resin berbasis komposit (CBR), serta material sementara CAD\/CAM, semuanya memiliki kekuatan lentur yang cukup baik. Namun, kecocokan marginal pada crown sementara yang dibuat dengan teknologi CAD\/CAM terbukti lebih unggul dibandingkan dengan yang menggunakan material resin autopolimerisasi berbasis komposit bis-akrilik. Untuk restorasi jangka pendek, crown sementara yang dibuat di kursi gigi bisa memberikan kekerasan dan kekuatan lentur yang memadai.<\/p><p>Adaptasi marginal adalah faktor penting dalam restorasi sementara, karena hubungan antara restorasi yang disemen dan gigi adalah area yang sangat rentan terhadap karies berulang, sensitivitas gigi, dan kegagalan perawatan. Semakin akurat adaptasi restorasi terhadap gigi, semakin besar peluang keberhasilan klinis jangka panjang dari restorasi akhir.
